In our biogas plant, we convert agricultural biomass into green electricity, but can also feed it into the natural gas network of Stadtwerke Pirmasens.
In the production process, the raw materials used are particularly sustainable and efficient. This is because they are kept in the economic system for as long as possible, resulting in noticeable savings in the use of raw materials (cascade utilization). Due to a unique, process-optimized multi-chamber tank with excellent thermal insulation and additional heat recovery from biogas, the biogas process is significantly accelerated and the thermal energy input for fermentation is significantly reduced. In this way, our biogas plant with the associated upgrading plant for biotechnological methanation and the feed-in plant for the power grid of Stadtwerke Primasens, is unique and a prime example of sustainable energy production.
Our biotechnology expert Christoph Kaczmarzyk presented this expertise as well as the construction and functioning of the plant together with the institute's director Dr. Kerstin Schulte. Together with the two politicians the whole energy park was visited and also the 25 meter high tower of the biogas upgrading plant was not excluded.
The entire meeting was filled with inspiring conversations and a vibrant exchange of ideas on the topics of sustainability, renewable energies, recycling cycles and political developments.
We are excited about the future developments and wish Mr. Reichert and Mr. Wolf much success and many exciting topics on their summer tours!
