ISO 20150:2019 Footwear and footwear components - Quantitative challenge test method to assess antifungal activity

This new, international standard specifies quantitative testing procedures to assess antifungal respectively antimycotic activity of footwear and footwear components, enabeling testing of corresponding properties against different micro-fungi.

Testing against Candida albicans as test organism is mandatory. Optional if activity against mould is claimed additional and independing testing against Aspergillus sp. is conducted, respectively if activity against dermatophytes (athlete feet) is claimed, testing against the test organism Trichophyton mentagrophytes.

Together with the standard ISO 16187:2013 to assess antibacterial activity - published in 2013 - suitable testing procedures for overall quantitative testing of antimicrobial, i.e. antibacterial as well as antifungal properties are available for footwear industry.
